Fishers wanting to get out with their family & fiends will be pleased to know, that if they can gain greater independence through the use of a motorised fishing reel (as used in Fishers with Disabilities Assoc. fishing activities) the reels are now more accessible to the community.

Through a joint relationship with the Department of Fishers and two motorized reel kits are available from the Department’s Naturaliste Marine Discovery Centre (NMDC)at Hillarys.  There is no charge for loan, however a $25-00 deposit and satisfactory identification are required. Bookings are essential and fishers are advised to ensure they allow enough time when arranging the collection time for charging the battery prior to use.  Batteries should be charged overnight to ensure there is good usage time. Fishers will require their own rod (reels use standard rod fittings), tackle and bait. To book a reel call the NMDC direct on 9203 0339
